The Municipality wants to hear from you on issues that matter to the community. We are looking for your feedback to address important issues and assist in the decision-making process. We want to know how decisions made by Clarington will affect you, the residents. Your feedback will help Municipal staff and Council better understand the perspectives, opinions, and concerns of Clarington residents and businesses.
Public engagement plays a crucial role in ensuring the decisions made by Council reflect the vision of the community. We recognize that not everyone can attend public meetings and open houses in person, so we’re bringing our public engagement platform to you.

Public Information Centres |
What is a Public Information Centre (PIC)?Public Information Centres (PICs) are informal public meetings where staff and consultants share upcoming or ongoing project details with residents and local business owners. You will have the opportunity to learn about the project, ask questions and share your ideas, opinions and perspectives. We welcome all feedback. Why should I come to a PIC?The input of Clarington residents is vital to the success of every project. We need to know what you think so that we can consider your comments, ideas and suggestions. Your feedback will also help shape the information we share on our website and social media. What happens at a PIC?PICs often include presentations where Municipal staff or consultants explain the details of a project. Other PICs are drop-in style. You can drop by during set hours and browse poster boards displaying project information. You will also have the opportunity to chat with staff and consultants. What if I can't attend a PIC?PICs are only one way for you to engage. You can also share your feedback via phone, email, letter, or social media. The details of where you can send your comments are posted on each notice. |
Public Meetings |
What is a public meeting?Public meetings often take place during a meeting of Council. Members of the public may arrange to speak as a delegate to share their opinion with Clarington Council. In general, engagement is more limited at a public meeting than during a PIC. According to the rules of procedure, residents can only state their concerns or opinions during public meetings and cannot ask questions. Why should I attend a public meeting?By coming to a public meeting, you will have a chance to better understand the decision-making process that occurs when Council considers an amendment to a by-law or makes a decision about a project. What if I can't attend a public meeting?Agendas, minutes, and video recordings of Council Meetings are posted on the Council Meetings Calendar as soon as they become available. |
