The refrigerated rink at Courtice Community Complex is expected to open for the 2024-25 skating season and features a refrigerated ice surface bordered by a rubber skate mat, ample lighting for evening use, covered and uncovered chairs and benches, two gas fire pits and a warming room.
We are currently in the design phase of an outdoor refrigerated rink that will be built at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex in Newcastle, to open in November 2025.
The Bowmanville refrigerated skating trail is part of phase one of the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre and is expected to be completed summer 2026. The concrete surface of the outdoor skating trail will be designed for year-round use and serve as a public gathering space for the facility. The potential uses could include an outdoor community event space or a public market area.
