Clarington is home to some of the best sport fishing on the north shore of Lake Ontario. The Municipality of Clarington has four tributaries that offer first-rate trout and salmon fishing: Bowmanville Creek, Soper Creek, Wilmot Creek, and Graham Greek. Clarington also has access to Lake Ontario via Port Darlington in Bowmanville and the Port of Newcastle.

Clarington is located in Zone 17 of Ontario's 20 Fisheries and Management Zones.
Anglers require a fishing licence, with few exceptions. Check the Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary for a complete list of regulations.
A wheelchair-accessible trail, the first of its kind in Durham Region, is available at the Bowmanville Creek. The path, made of natural surface gravel, allows those who use wheelchairs to enjoy fishing. The Bowmanville Creek Conservation Group initiated the project after a wheelchair-using fisherman requested an accessible spot for fishing in the area.
You can find the wheelchair-accessible trail along Bowmanville creek, south of the Goodyear Dam and north of Spry Avenue. Data from studies showed this location is where fish congregate, making it an excellent spot for great fishing. The area is large enough to accommodate several wheelchair-using anglers and their friends.

The Bowmanville Fish Ladder is located approximately one kilometre north of the Baseline Road parking lot on the Bowmanville Valley Trail. It was built to help salmon reach their upstream spawning areas. You can visit in the fall to see trout and salmon on their journey over the fish ladder.
