Digging on your property, even with a shovel, can damage underground utility service lines that provide water, cable, hydro and gas.

The Municipality provides consultation services to homeowners wanting to construct their own home. The Planning Department and Building Services Division are located in one convenient area on the third floor of the Municipal Administrative Centre. Our goal is to provide the most efficient and complete information to residents who want to construct a home.

Our Plans Examiners are available to answer questions on the building permit process including: drawings required, applicable law requirements and fees. During this consultation, the Planning Department will tell you the zoning requirement for the property, including setbacks, lot coverage and max height of the building. They will also explain any other processes that may be required. Our Building Services Division will provide you with the requirements for an entrance permit for the driveway from our Municipal road.
