Proclamations are public announcements or declarations, often issued to organizations in the format of a ceremonial document, which recognizes the efforts and contributions of groups or individuals. The Mayor receives requests for formal proclamations from groups or organizations wishing to raise awareness or highlight an upcoming event or issue. The Mayor has the authority to designate a specific day, week or month to help raise awareness of these events, arts and cultural celebrations, charitable fundraising or public awareness campaigns that are significant to the Municipality of Clarington.
The Mayor will not issue proclamations for:
An organization does not have exclusive rights to the day, week or month of their proclamation.
To submit your request, fill out the Flag Raising and Proclamation Request Form at least three weeks prior to the desired proclamation period.

Mayor Adrian Foster has proclaimed May 7, 2025, as World Maternal Mental Health Day. The day aims to support mothers and families and build stronger communities. Increasing awareness will drive social change with the goal toward improving the quality of care for women experiencing all types of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and reducing the stigma of maternal mental illness. The Municipal Administrative Centre (Town Hall) will be lit green in recognition. |
