The Municipality of Clarington has proclaimed February 11, 2024 as 211 Day to help promote 211 service. Access 211 to connect with government and community-based, non-clinical and social services in over 150 languages. 211 is available by phone, chat, website or text.

The Municipality of Clarington has proclaimed February 13, 2024 as Wear Red Canada Day. On this day we aim to raise awareness about women’s heart health by reminding everyone to be mindful, curious and proactive in the management of their heart health and wellness.

The Municipality of Clarington has proclaimed April 28 as National Day of Mourning. It is a day to raise awareness and to strive to prevent workplace deaths, illnesses, and injuries. In honour and remembrance of those killed in the workplace, Clarington will lower their flags on this day.

The Municipality of Clarington has proclaimed May 17, 2024, as International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia. This day brings awareness to the violence and discrimination that is faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex people, and all those of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, expressions, and sex characteristics.

On this day Clarington celebrates the diversity of our community and we acknowledge the discrimination and struggles faced by the 2SLGBTQIA community.

Clarington Council has proclaimed May 26 to June 1, 2024, as National AccessAbility Week. This week we celebrate the contributions of Canadians with disabilities, the work to remove barriers and our efforts to become more accessible and inclusive to all.

Clarington Council has declared June 2024 as CDKL5 Awareness Month. During this month we will help raise awareness for those diagnosed with CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder which is a rare genetic mutation that prevents ones body from producing essential proteins for brain development. In honour of this month, The Municipal Administrative Centre will be lit lime green.

Clarington Council has proclaimed June as Parks and Recreation Month. The month aims to encourage families and residents to participate in activities that increase physical activity, promote healthy eating and encourage safe play.

The Municipality of Clarington has proclaimed June 1, 2024 World Neighbour Day. On this day, we encourage the gathering of neighbours to get to know each other better and develop a sense of community. Do this by hosting a block or street party, book exchange, arts and craft party, food drive, charity bake sale and more!

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - June 15, 2024

Clarington has proclaimed June 15, 2024, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. On this day we encourage all residents to recognize and celebrate seniors and their ongoing contributions to the success and vitality of our community.

Clarington Council has proclaimed September as Hunger Action Month. This month helps to raise awareness, food donations, and funds to fight hunger in the community.

Clarington Council has proclaimed September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It's a time to raise awareness of the achievements made and challenges that remain in caring for children with cancer. 

A flag raising event will take place on September 3 at 10 a.m. at Town Hall (40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville).

Clarington Council has proclaimed September 2024 Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. During this time, we raise awareness and support for those affected. In recognition, the Municipal Administrative Centre (40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville) will be lit blue from September 1 to 7.

September 28 is National British Home Child Day in Clarington. Between 1869 and the late 1940s over 100,000 orphaned and abandoned children were sent to Canada from Great Britain in the hope of having a better life.

Clarington Council has proclaimed November 2024 as Kidpreneur Month. During this month, we recognize the creativity, resilience and innovation of young entrepreneurs.

Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has proclaimed November 2024 as Lung Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness for lung cancer and lung cancer screening.

Lung cancer is the deadliest cancer in Canada and the world, but lung cancer screening can reduce up to one-third of lung cancer deaths by diagnosing it early.

Clarington Council has proclaimed November 14 as World Diabetes Day to raise awareness and take action on diabetes.

Diabetes is a condition where the body cannot either produce insulin or cannot properly use the insulin it produces. More than 5.7 million Canadians live with diabetes. Learn more on the Diabetes Canada website.

World Prematurity Day - November 17, 2024

Clarington Council has proclaimed November 17 as World Prematurity Day to honour premature babies, their families and caregivers.

To mark the day, Town Hall will be lit purple in recognition on November 17.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women - November 25, 2024

November 25 is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women in Clarington. The day supports the prevention and elimination of violence against women and remembers the women who have been killed in acts on intimate partner violence.

A flag raising will be held in Veterans' Square on Monday, November 25 at 9 a.m.
