To improve the safety of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in Bowmanville, the Municipality of Clarington will be making roadway improvements on a portion of King Street East from Lambert Street to Haines Road. This work will include the reallocation of a four-lane section from Frank Street to Mearns Avenue as a consistent two-lane road with buffered cycling lanes and a continuous centre left turn lane.

The following roads will be closed as crews work to update rail crossings:
Please note: Hard road closures block the entire road, preventing motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles from passing. Soft road closures allow local traffic to access homes, businesses, or properties up until the point of a hard road closure.

Maplefest celebrates the start of spring and all things maple! Join in the festivities in Historic Downtown Bowmanville from Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
King Street will be closed from Friday, May 3, 2024, at 6 p.m. to Saturday, May 4, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m. from Scugog Street to George Street and will also include parts of Division and Temperance Streets. Detours are available via alternate local roads.

From May to September 2024, crews will begin construction to improve the surface of several rural roads in Clarington. The work includes drainage improvements, asphalt reclamation, grading and resurfacing. Motorists may experience temporary lane closures, short-term road closures and delays on the affected roads.
