The Municipality is working to create a new waterfront strategy with a vision for the 34 kilometres of Clarington’s waterfront shoreline to ensure that our community and visitors can enjoy the pristine beauty of the space today, tomorrow and in the future.
This new vision will look at a community-wide approach for these outdoor spaces and create recreational destinations for public enjoyment in the heart of Clarington. There will be many opportunities for public input as we want to create a new plan that reflects our collective vision.
Visit www.clarington.net/WaterfrontStrategy for updates and opportunities to provide input.
It is not uncommon to see foxes and coyotes in urban areas of Clarington, but do you know what to do if you encounter a wild animal that doesn’t run away?
Clap your hands or make noise to ensure your presence is known. Keep pets on a leash when walking them outside, and don’t leave them unattended in your backyard. If an animal confronts you, don’t turn your back and run. Slowly back away to safety.

Clarington has added seven new electric vehicles (EVs) to its light-duty fleet and built eight new charging stations for corporate and public use as it continues to take action to reduce corporate carbon emissions.
The purchase of the new EVs is a key step in Clarington’s Five-Year Electric Vehicle Action Plan (EVAP), which outlines the transition of the municipal fleet to zero-emissions electric vehicles by 2026, as existing fleet vehicles reach the end of their service life. The EVAP also guides the expansion of the EV charging network to include 60 charging points across the Municipality by the end of 2026 to support the municipal fleet and public vehicles.
Visit www.clarington.net/EVs or more information.
Clarington helped kick off the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation’s ‘We Care, We Can’ Awareness Month by raising a flag at Town Hall to support community-wide efforts to raise funds for the hospital redevelopment and expansion. The Municipality has donated $5 million to this project. The community can help by donating, becoming a sponsor, or holding a fundraising event.

Following the Province-wide storm on May 21, cleanup efforts across the Municipality have been ongoing. Throughout June, Clarington’s Works Department crews launched a municipal-wide curbside storm debris collection program, gathering trees and fallen branches from residents for disposal. We also received questions about financial assistance for residents hit hard by the storm and want to share some important information.
The Province offers the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program, which is activated by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing in the event of a natural disaster after an assessment is made of the area affected. The Province determines if the damage sustained to an area warrants program activation and whether applicants qualify for funding support. For more information on the program, contact the Province directly at 1-877-822-0116 or DisasterAssistance@Ontario.ca.
We want to remind residents to be ready in an emergency. Prepare an emergency kit that will last at least 72 hours following an event.
For information on what to include in your emergency kit, visit www.clarington.net/EmergencyPreparedness.
