Clarington, Ontario – More than a thousand residents joined Mayor Adrian Foster and members of Council on June 1 to celebrate the official opening of Newcastle Community Park, located on the west side of the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex. The $3.5 million community park features a tournament-grade hardball diamond, new tennis and pickleball courts, a skateboard park, paved walkways and a shade structure alongside the existing Newcastle Dog Park.
Following a ribbon-cutting and celebratory first pitch with Mayor Foster, attendees were treated to pickleball lessons, face painting, swimming, jumping castles, an obstacle course and colouring station to kick-off the #HeartYourParksClarington campaign.

From swimming to jungle gyms, pickleball, basketball, soccer, splash pads and more - hundreds of residents participated in the #HeartYourParksClarington campaign to draw all the ways they enjoy open spaces across the community.
Onsite activities at the Newcastle Community Park grand opening included friendship bracelet stations (pictured), as well as face painting, jumping castles, an obstacle course, pickleball lessons and free swimming.
