Clarington, Ontario – How can Clarington make it easier for you to cycle, walk, or roll to get around the community? The Municipality is asking residents to share their feedback to help create a safe, accessible, and well-connected active transportation network.
Active transportation refers to any mode of travel that uses a person’s own power to move. This includes walking, cycling, using a mobility device, jogging, skateboarding, rollerblading, scootering and more. Infrastructure such as sidewalks, bike lanes, multi-use paths, and paved shoulders make up Clarington’s active transportation network.
Clarington is asking residents to contribute to the development of its new Active Transportation Master Plan, which will guide network growth and priorities for the next 10 to 15 years. Visit www.clarington.net/ATMP or drop by a Clarington Connected kiosk in a local recreation facility to share your feedback. You can complete the survey for a chance to win a prize, leave a comment, or drop a pin on our interactive map to share your experience using active transportation in Clarington.
“With our new Active Transportation Master Plan, Clarington is proactively addressing traffic management, walkability, livability and connectivity,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster. “I encourage residents to share their ideas so we can create a community-focused plan that aims to make walking, cycling and rolling a safer and more reliable transportation option here in Clarington.”
There will also be an in-person Public Information Centre on Thursday, March 21, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex in Bowmanville. Drop in to learn more about the project and share your ideas with staff.
