New parking meters give historic downtown Bowmanville a modern touch

During the first few weeks of February, new on-street parking meters will be installed in downtown Bowmanville.

These modern machines will make shopping and doing business easier, more convenient, and more accessible by offering drivers multiple payment options.

Residents and visitors will be able to use cash, debit, credit, or the HotSpot app to pay for parking. Contactless payments will also be available with tap functionality. Previously, only coins or credit card payments made through the HotSpot app were accepted.

New modern parking meters in downtown Bowmanville will accept multiple methods of payment.

We anticipate minimal to no disruptions to pedestrian traffic during the installation process. Additional work will take place this spring to straighten poles and add new decorative pole covers.

Parking hours and fees remain unchanged, with paid on-street parking effective from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, for a maximum of two hours.

This project is one of many initiatives under Clarington’s 2024-27 Strategic Plan aimed at using technology to modernize and optimize our services. We are proud to deliver another action item to our community.
