September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. It is a day to reflect on and acknowledge the painful legacy of the Residential School System in Canada that separated Indigenous children from their families and communities and stripped away their traditions, culture and languages.
It is a day to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors, their families and communities affected by the legacy of residential schools. Below is a list of initiatives taking place in Clarington and Durham Region. It is an opportunity to participate in the initiatives and learn more about why Truth and Reconciliation matters for each of us.
