Update: Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10 a.m. – Thanks to the tireless efforts of our dedicated Public Works team and improved weather conditions, the Municipality of Clarington has declared an end to the Significant Weather Event.
Our crews worked hard over the past week to plow through heavy snowfall accumulation and restore our roads, sidewalks and trails to meet the minimum maintenance standards. While the Significant Weather Event has been lifted, this does not mean our crews aren’t still working hard. Staff continue to resolve snow-related concerns, revisit previously cleared areas, and ensure Clarington remains accessible and safe.
Thank you, Clarington, for your continued patience, cooperation and support, as we dug our way through the significant snow accumulation. We also extend our appreciation to our snow-clearing crew for their commitment to keeping our community safe.
If you have a snow-related problem or concern, you can report it online using the Service Clarington Portal. This allows staff to collect necessary information to address the concern. Alternatively, you can call our Public Works Division at 905-623-3379 ext. 2291.

Update: Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 12:45 p.m. – Although the snow has stopped falling, Clarington remains under a Significant Weather Event. Snow-clearing operations are still underway, and crews are hard at work to ensure access to safe roads and pathways across our community. We value your patience as we manage snow removal and maintain clear spaces.
Crews are prioritizing the main roads and subdivisions, with sidewalk clearing operations ongoing, but the sheer volume of snow has created significant challenges. Sidewalk clearing crews are working in tandem with road clearing efforts to manage the overspill from roadways along Clarington’s arterial sidewalk routes.
Crews also are facing significant challenges due to drifting snow, especially in rural areas. Despite the roads being plowed, strong winds continue to cause heavy drifting. We advise residents to avoid these areas if possible.
We recognize that many areas still need to be cleared and assure residents that no road or arterial sidewalk has been forgotten. Please wait 24 hours before reporting an unplowed road or sidewalk, as our teams continue to work diligently.
Thank you for your understanding as we make every effort to restore our roads, sidewalks and trails to keep Clarington clear, accessible and safe.
The Municipality of Clarington has declared a Significant Weather Event under the Municipal Act due to the ongoing snow accumulation. This declaration means road conditions are hazardous, and snow-clearing crews require extra time to clear the roads and meet road safety standards.
Public Works crews continue to work diligently to maintain priority roads and sidewalks; however, clean-up efforts have proven to be challenging and is taking much longer than normal with the ongoing snowfall.
We urge residents to stay off the roads if possible. If you must travel, please use caution as road conditions remain hazardous.
It is imperative to snow-clearing operations that residents do not park on the roads. Vehicles parked on the road may be ticketed or towed as they impede our clearing operations.
All recreation programs remain cancelled, and the Fitness Training Centre remains closed for today (February 16). For more details regarding the cancellation, view the Service Disruption.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation and support as we work diligently to restore safe conditions.
