Assistant Lifeguard/Assistant Instructor |
Assistant Lifeguards/Assistant Instructors assist in the safety of swimmers, class participants, and guests at aquatic facilities. They assist instructors during aquatic lesson programs and act as the slide attendant during recreational public swims. Assistant Lifeguards/Instructors assist in maintaining Municipal procedures, rules and regulations, Lifesaving Society standards, and provide excellent customer service. Minimum qualifications for Assistant Instructor/Assistant Lifeguard positions:

Lifeguard/Instructor |
Lifeguards/Instructors ensure the safety of swimmers, class participants, and guests at aquatic facilities. They rotate between instructing aquatic lesson programs and monitoring recreational swimming activities as required while maintaining Municipal procedures, rules and regulations, Lifesaving Society standards, and excellent customer service. Head Lifeguard |
Head Lifeguards provide supervision and evaluate staff members during recreational swimming activities and ensure smooth and efficient operation of the pool area. They provide strong leadership for fellow staff members, ensure all necessary administrative duties regarding the operation of the pool deck area are complete and ensure aquatic staff members adhere to all policies and procedures as set out by the Department of Health, Lifesaving Society and the Municipality of Clarington. Head Instructor |
Head Instructors provide direct supervision, leadership and evaluation to swim instructors during aquatic lesson programs. They provide assistance and support for staff members and program participants, ensure a smooth and efficient operation of aquatic lessons and ensure all staff members adhere to policies and procedures as set out by the Department of Health, Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross and the Municipality of Clarington. Leadership Instructor |
Leadership instructors deliver various aquatic leadership courses offered throughout Clarington. They ensure all necessary planning is conducted ahead of the program, provide strong leadership for the candidates, and ensure smooth and efficient delivery of Lifesaving Society and Canadian Red Cross program standards and guidelines. Aquafit Instructor |
Aquafit Instructors provide safe, creative and enjoyable aquafit classes to participants in a pool setting and follow acceptable standards by the Municipality of Clarington, the certifying body for your certification. They demonstrate strong customer service skills, assist in preventing accidents and respond to emergency situations. Minimum qualifications for Aquafitness Instructor positions are:

We will email successful applicants to offer an interview date and time. The interview will be comprised of two steps.
Step 1: Wet Screening/ Practicum |
Candidates will participate in a hands-on lifeguarding assessment in the pool to demonstrate their lifeguarding skills and abilities in accordance with Lifesaving Society standards and must-sees. Candidates will work together to teach a mini swimming lesson for a group of children. Candidates will have 15 minutes to conduct the lesson. |
Step 2: Verbal Interview |
Candidates must successfully complete the wet screening/practicum before receiving a verbal interview.
The candidate will meet with two to three interviewers for a 15-minute conversation regarding their qualifications and skills as they relate to the position. |
