Clarington, Ontario – As we mark International Transgender Day of Visibility, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“Today, we celebrate the vibrant and fearless authenticity of the transgender community in Clarington and beyond. On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honour the joy and strength of transgender, Two-Spirit, and non-binary people.
In Clarington, we strive to be a place where everyone feels welcomed and safe to be who they are, free from fear of discrimination or harassment based on gender identity and expression. We stand proudly with our trans residents, deeply opposing any form of hurtful discrimination and dangerous hate.
Our municipality is enriched by gender-diverse people and allies of the trans community who dismantle stigma and promote a deeper understanding of inclusion. Their advocacy paves the way to a brighter future, ensuring our community will meet the needs of every resident.”
