Clarington, Ontario – At the beginning of the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“I want to wish a blessed Yom Kippur to everyone observing in our community.
In the Jewish calendar, today marks the holiest day of the year. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, begins at sundown this evening and lasts until nightfall tomorrow. For many of our residents, it is a time for fasting, introspection, attending synagogue, and praying for forgiveness.
On behalf of Clarington Council, we sincerely wish those in our Jewish community a year filled with peace and goodness. Shana Tova."
