Clarington, Ontario – Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has released the following statement after the announcement that Metroland Media has sought bankruptcy protection and will cease the print publication of Clarington This Week and its other weekly community newspapers.

“I am saddened to hear that we are losing print editions of the Clarington This Week. This newspaper had a long tradition of bringing local journalism to Clarington's doorsteps.

While times are changing, what has stayed the same is that the community needs to be informed about council decisions, municipal programs and services. Clarington staff members are considering how we can best fill the gap to ensure the community remains engaged and informed. As we figure this out, we’ll continue to share information through a variety of channels, including mailouts, advertising, and online public engagement.
