Clarington, Ontario – As we mark Canada Day, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“Happy Canada Day! I invite you to join the Municipality as we celebrate all that is great about our nation.
This is a day to reflect on our history, diversity, and principles. We aspire to amplify the Canadian values of equity and inclusion. It is a day to celebrate where we are and commit to creating a better future for the next generation.
It is also a day to acknowledge the past relationship between settlers and Indigenous Peoples, the injustices and the challenges that many of our fellow Canadians still face. Canada Day is an opportune moment to reaffirm our dedication to reconciliation and healing.
As Mayor, I am proud of our community and how we have supported each other in difficult times and celebrated the good times together. Today, let’s celebrate and look forward to a bright future for Canada and our community.”
