Starting the week of August 6, 2024, crews will begin rehabilitation work on the Newcastle Memorial Arena parking lot, located at 103 Caroline Street in Newcastle.
What does the work include?
Clearing and trimming plants, trees and shrubs around the boundary of the property
Replacing storm sewer infrastructure
Removing and replacing existing parking lot asphalt and road base
Installing electrical works for parking lot lighting
Installing curbs, retaining wall and privacy fencing
Other restorations as required
What are the impacts?
Access to the arena’s main parking lot will be restricted during construction. Visitors are encouraged to park and access the arena from the additional parking area located off Baldwin Street on the west side of the arena. Notice and signage to ensure the safety of arena users will be provided prior to closure.
The contractor will ensure that all garbage and recycling pickup and deliveries will remain uninterrupted by construction activities.
What is the timeline?
Work will begin the week of August 6, 2024, and is anticipated to take approximately six weeks to complete. Although construction will be disruptive at times, we appreciate your patience as crews complete the work.
