New mosaic mural showcases Clarington’s continued strength and resiliency

Clarington, Ontario – Clarington unveiled a large mosaic mural of a flourishing apple tree at Town Hall this morning, symbolizing new growth and unity in the face of adversity. The mural was unveiled together with sponsor Ontario Power Generation and is made up of more than 700 individual tiles painted by residents and community groups as part of a community-wide art project in the summer of 2021.

“The mosaic mural project was a perfect way to safely reconnect the community and showcase our resiliency during challenging times. Each tile represents something special about Clarington, and together, our collective story will act as a reminder of how we’ve remained united, strong and steadfast throughout this pandemic,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.

The mosaic mural will remain on display year-round in Veterans' Square (cenotaph) at the Municipal Administrative Centre in Bowmanville.

“Thanks to our generous sponsor, Ontario Power Generation, and the expertise of Mural Mosaic, the community was able to create a little piece of Clarington history, one painted tile at a time,” added Mayor Foster.
