Mayor Foster issues statement of condolence on the loss of Mayor Hazel McCallion:

Clarington, Ontario – The following statement has been released by Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster, expressing condolences on the death of Hazel McCallion.

The longtime mayor of Mississauga, 101, died at home on Sunday, January 29, 2023. McCallion served as mayor for 12 terms until she was 94 years old.

“On behalf of Council and the Municipality of Clarington, I want to express our deepest condolences to Mayor McCallion’s family and the residents of Mississauga. She was a dedicated public servant and fierce champion for her community. Her legacy of tireless commitment to local government is an inspiration to many who also seek to build up their communities. Together we mourn the loss of ‘Hurricane’ Hazel.”
