Clarington is working to improve accessibility and safety across the community. Starting the week of August 6, crews will begin intersection accessibility improvements and construction of new pedestrian crossovers in Bowmanville, Courtice and Enniskillen.
The locations are as follows:
Longworth Avenue and Clayton Crescent Intersection, Bowmanville
Longworth Avenue and Brooking Street Intersection, Bowmanville
Baseline Road and Spry Avenue Intersection, Bowmanville
Nash Road and 4th Avenue Intersection, Courtice
What does the work include?
Replacing concrete curbs and sidewalks
Installing tactile plate walking surface indicators
Improving line paintings and signage
Installing accessible pedestrian signals and related equipment in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
Installing new pedestrian crossovers with solar-powered flashing beacons
What are the impacts?
Vehicle traffic will be maintained throughout construction. Pedestrians may be rerouted during the placement and curing of concrete curbs and sidewalks. Access to private property will be maintained at all times.
What is the timeline?
Construction will begin the week of August 6 and is anticipated to be completed by September 2024, dependent on weather conditions. Although construction may be disruptive at times, we appreciate your understanding as crews complete the work.
