Clarington wraps up 2024 sidewalk improvement projects

Clarington regularly invests in making our community more connected, accessible and safe through sidewalk improvement projects.

This year, nearly 265 metres of pathways, sidewalks and crosswalks were extended or improved across the municipality – that’s about the length of three football fields!

The improvements included:

• Improving pedestrian connectivity along Church Street, Bowmanville
• Creating a path from the basketball court to the sidewalk at Quinn Drive at Optimist Park, Bowmanville
• Constructing a new sidewalk from Solina Hall to Solina Road on Concession 6
• Relocating a school crossing and adding a new Pedestrian Crossover (PXO) to enhance safety, along with developing new sidewalks on West Side Drive, Bowmanville
• Developing a crossing of the Toyota Trail on Haines Street, Bowmanville

The sidewalk improvement project is just one of the ways municipal staff work hard to improve Clarington’s accessibility and safety. More intersection accessibility improvements and new pedestrian crossovers are currently in construction and expected to wrap up in September 2024.
