Update: Clarington recreation facilities to reopen at noon for regularly scheduled programs

Update: Thursday, February 13, 2025, 8 a.m. – All of Clarington’s recreation facilities will reopen today, Thursday, February 13, at noon for regularly scheduled and drop-in programs. The Municipal Administrative Centre will remain open today during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Clarington crews have been busy overnight, with snowplow operators focused on clearing the main roads. Please be patient as we continue to clear the streets in priority sequence and avoid parking on the road. Report winter road maintenance emergencies like drifting snow, icy roads or downed trees by calling 905-623-3379 ext. 2661.

Clarington is ready for whatever winter throws our way over the next few hours! In anticipation of significant snowfall expected to begin this evening, we have made the following adjustments to municipal programs and services:

• All municipal recreation facilities and programs remain open tonight (February 12).
• All rentals, classes and programs will be cancelled for tomorrow morning (February 13) until noon and will be reassessed for afternoon programming.
• Clarington Library, Museums and Archives (CLMA) programs will be cancelled for tomorrow morning (February 13).
• Though programming and classes are cancelled, all municipal facilities and recreation centre lobby spaces will remain open to the public on February 13.
• The Fitness Training Centre at Courtice Community Complex will be closed for tomorrow morning (February 13). 

Our crews are on standby and ready to begin snow-clearing operations as soon as snow accumulates. Roads will be plowed in a priority sequence with main roads and emergency routes plowed first.

How you can help 📢

Help us help you by assisting in smooth snow-clearing operations:

• Ensure all vehicles are off the road to allow for snow-clearing operations.
• Temporary parking passes and on-street parking permits are not valid during a snow event or for the duration of the cleanup.
• If you park on the street during a snow event, your vehicle may be ticketed or towed.
• Stay off the roads during significant snowfall. If you need to drive, remember to drive according to the road and weather conditions and stay a safe distance back from other vehicles, including snowplows.
• If you are physically able, please clear snow and ice from around your hydrant to allow firefighters easy access to the area during an emergency.
• Report winter road maintenance emergencies like drifting snow, icy roads or downed trees by calling 905-623-3379 ext. 2661. For after-hours road emergencies, please call Oshawa Fire Dispatch at 905-433-1234.
• You can also report non-emergency concerns through the Service Clarington portal.
• Please do not call to report unplowed roads until at least eight to 12 hours after the end of the snowstorm.
• Be prepared. Have an emergency plan in place and an emergency kit ready.
