Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington is proud to observe International Women’s Day.
As Clarington continues striving to forge an inclusive, equitable work culture where everyone has an opportunity to thrive, the Municipality of Clarington is proud to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions and successes of the incredible women in Clarington’s workforce.
Today, the Municipality is amplifying the visibility of women in Clarington’s workforce and celebrating their achievements with a campaign that celebrates exceptional female staff working across the Municipality. In Clarington’s Emergency and Fire Services, eight female fighters shared the following advice for women and young girls aspiring to become firefighters:
“Believe in yourself. Firefighting is a male-dominated field, but you can change the standard. Don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t be discouraged. We have all failed many times. It takes years of perseverance to do it. Keep going. Push yourself to take the extra step and reach out to the Fire department. We mentor each other and push each other through.”
