The pool at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex (DHRC) is closed so renovations can take place to upgrade the space for our community. The pool will be closed for an estimated eight-week period starting December 3.
The primary focus of this project is to replace the dehumidification unit, which takes care of the environment on the pool deck-managing the cooling, humidity, and fresh air. In addition to this important upgrade, we’ll also be making some in-house improvements like fresh paint, repaired tile areas with new grouting, and updated blinds on select windows. These renovations are essential to keeping our facilities in top shape for everyone to enjoy. While the main upgrade may not be visible, you will be able to feel the difference on the pool deck when using the facility.
To offset the pool closure at DRHC, we’re adding additional aquatics programming at Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre and Courtice Community Complex. This means you can still take a dip, while seizing the opportunity to visit our other great facilities! Aquatics programming will pick back up at DHRC once the pool reopens, including winter swim lessons. Registration for the winter 2025 aquatics session will open December 11.
Recreational activities, like swim lessons, are important to our community. That's why Clarington Council has recently approved plans to include an aquatics facility at the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre! This exciting addition is part of our commitment to meet the needs of our growing population and aligns with our Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan (PRCMP), which cites a clear need for additional aquatics programming in Clarington.
Investing in new facilities while maintaining our existing ones, like DHRC, is essential for fostering a vibrant and connected community.
