Batter up! Celebrate the opening of Newcastle Community Park with family-friendly fun on June 1

Mark your calendars and join us for an afternoon of free family fun on June 1, from 3 to 6 p.m., as we celebrate the official opening of Newcastle Community Park!

The $3.5 million community park features new tennis and pickleball courts, a tournament-grade clay hardball diamond, a skateboard park, paved walkways, and a shade structure. Newcastle Community Park is located on the west side of Diane Hamre Recreation Complex,1780 Rudell Road, Newcastle. 

Explore the new park and enjoy an afternoon jam-packed with fun, including:  

• Ceremonial first pitch at the ball diamond at 4 p.m. 

• Meet the Mayor and Councillors 

• Indoor and outdoor family-friendly games and fitness activities 

• Learn to play pickleball 

• Inflatables 

• Face painting 

• Crafts and friendship bracelet-making 

• Free public swimming from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. 

• Visit with Clarington Emergency and Fire Services 

• Freezies 

• A visit from the KX96 Cruiser 

• Prizes and giveaways
