Beginning the week of July 29, 2024, reconstruction will begin on High Street and O'Dell Street. The work is expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete. Please note that timelines are approximate and will vary depending on weather and other factors.
Access to properties for vehicles and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times, except for short periods. Garbage and recycling pick up and all deliveries will be uninterrupted by construction activities.
Although construction may be disruptive at times, we ask for your patience to complete the work. We apologize for any inconvenience during construction and thank you for your patience.
The Municipality is planning to reconstruct High Street in Bowmanville, from Concession Street West to the CP Rail corridor and O’Dell Street, from High Street to the western end, east of Elgin Street, in 2024, pending Council approval. Both existing roads have reached the end of their service life.
The Region of Durham will be partnering with the Municipality to replace the existing sanitary sewers and water main within the project limits, as this infrastructure has also reached the end of its service life.
The proposed work includes:
Public Information Centre
A Public Information Centre (PIC) was held on January 30, 2024.
The proposed design will avoid potential impacts to private properties as much as possible; however, local driveway aprons and front yards will be affected. The Municipality will reinstate the driveway aprons to match their existing conditions.
