Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington is proud to announce a much-needed upgrade to the Newcastle Memorial Arena beginning this April.
The Newcastle Memorial Arena, at 103 Caroline Street West, was built in 1976. It has a seasonal single-sheet ice rink and out-of-season community floor space. The arena is owned by the Municipality and operated by the volunteer Newcastle Memorial Arena Management Board. Clarington is undertaking a complete renovation of the community rink this year.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is currently monitoring recent reports of dead birds that have been found in the Uxbridge area for potential avian influenza. Due to over-capacity issues at the elementary school in Newcastle, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has decided to move younger students to Pines Senior Public School on Highway 35/115.
