Clarington meets Provincial housing targets in 2023
The Municipality has met its 2023 target for new housing starts with 953 units, a report from staff highlighted for Council.
In March 2023, Clarington signed a pledge to support the creation of 13,000 residential units by 2031, as part of the Province’s commitment of 1.5 million new units across Ontario during that period.

Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington is making investments in community infrastructure to enhance the quality of life for residents in Newcastle. Clarington's Municipal Administrative Centre (Town Hall) will be closed from Monday, December 25, 2023, to Monday, January 1, 2024. The building will reopen on Tuesday, Tuesday, January 2, at 8:30 a.m.
Service requests, complaints, and emergencies will still be attended to.
