Durham Tourism, and the Durham Region Joint Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade, have launched the new #ShopInDurham campaign with a special request for residents this holiday season: shop local.
The goal of the campaign is to spread the message that buying local will have a big impact for small businesses, while encouraging residents to shop local for their holiday gift-giving.

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham will hold its fall test of the nuclear alerting system on November 23 and 24. The system warns people in the unlikely event of an emergency at the nuclear generating station in Clarington or Pickering.
The test will take place during daytime hours over two days:
On November 23, an auto dialer will call about 100,000 landline phone numbers within 10 kilometres of the nuclear generating stations. Call display will show the calls as coming from 905-666-6291.
