Construction Notice: Upcoming pavement rehabilitation work in Bowmanville and Newcastle

Please be advised that beginning the week of October 7, 2024, GIP Paving Limited will begin work on road improvements in Bowmanville and Newcastle.

Roadwork will include the removal and replacement of applicable surface and base asphalt and concrete sidewalks and curbs, as well as asphalt paving, traffic line painting, driveway and roadway shoulder re-instatement (where applicable), ditching and associated restoration works.

These roadwork improvements will take place in the following locations:

Temporary closure to Samuel Wilmot Nature Area parking lot and waterfront trail in Newcastle

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising that a road closure will be in place on Cobbledick Road in Newcastle from Service Road to the waterfront trail, including the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area parking lot, beginning August 12 into November.

Notice of Construction on Newcastle Memorial Arena Parking Lot

Starting the week of August 6, 2024, crews will begin rehabilitation work on the Newcastle Memorial Arena parking lot, located at 103 Caroline Street in Newcastle.  

What does the work include? 

• Clearing and trimming plants, trees and shrubs around the boundary of the property 

• Replacing storm sewer infrastructure 

• Removing and replacing existing parking lot asphalt and road base 

• Installing electrical works for parking lot lighting 

• Installing curbs, retaining wall and privacy fencing

Prestonvale Road closed due to damage caused by recent heavy rain

Prestonvale Road is closed due to damage caused by heavy rain. A hard road closure is located approximately 60 metres north of 1285 Prestonvale Road.

Soft road closures are located at Prestonvale Road and Jack Potts Way and Baseline Road and Cigas Road.

This road closure will be in effect until further notice.

Road resurfacing and drainage improvement work to begin next week on Clarington’s rural roads

From May to September 2024, crews will begin construction to improve the surface of several rural roads in Clarington. The work includes drainage improvements, asphalt reclamation, grading and resurfacing. Motorists may experience temporary lane closures, short-term road closures and delays on the affected roads.
