Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham continues to experience yard waste collection delays in the Town of Ajax, Township of Brock, Municipality of Clarington, City of Pickering, Township of Scugog and Township of Uxbridge. Collection delays are expected to continue until the end of the year or until further notice.

As the community continues to clean up following the province-wide storm on May 21, Clarington has received some questions about financial assistance available to residents on private property to help their efforts. The Municipality of Clarington has no financial disaster assistance programs as those are offered provincially. Elexicon will be conducting a scheduled power outage in the Port of Newcastle on Friday, June 10, 2022. The outage will last approximately four hours, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The outage is necessary to ensure the safety of Elexicon workers and the community while crews perform maintenance of the distribution system equipment, which is crucial.

Residents must register by filling out the Brush Collection Request Form or by calling 905-263-2291 to ensure that crews have their address for curbside pickup of storm debris, including fallen trees, branches, and brush. Works crews and our contractor will start curbside collection on Wednesday, June 8, in Newcastle and make their way across Clarington.
