Clarington wraps up 2024 sidewalk improvement projects

Clarington regularly invests in making our community more connected, accessible and safe through sidewalk improvement projects.

This year, nearly 265 metres of pathways, sidewalks and crosswalks were extended or improved across the municipality – that’s about the length of three football fields!

The improvements included:

• Improving pedestrian connectivity along Church Street, Bowmanville
• Creating a path from the basketball court to the sidewalk at Quinn Drive at Optimist Park, Bowmanville

Clarington receives Provincial funding to plan and build new firefighter training facility

Clarington has been awarded a $3.2 million grant from the Government of Ontario’s Skills Development Fund: Capital Stream for the design and construction of a new fire training facility in Bowmanville. Firefighters and other emergency responders in Clarington and across Durham Region will have new opportunities to develop life-saving skills at the facility. Clarington receives provincial grant for Hetherington Drive Stormwater Outlet Improvement project

The Municipality of Clarington is receiving funding under the Province of Ontario’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund to upgrade and improve the Hetherington Drive Stormwater Outlet in the Bowmanville Creek valley. The province will fund 73 per cent of eligible project costs, up to a maximum of $509,118.
